Hiranya meaning
Hiranya (हिरण्य) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Gold; golden, made of gold
Hiranya (हिरण्य) is the old Sanskrit word for gold. Monier-Williams gives it first as precious metal, later as coined gold and money, and also as golden things such as vessels and ornaments; as an adjective it means golden or made of gold. The word runs through the scriptures: Hiraṇyagarbha, the "golden embryo" from which the creator Brahmā arises, and Hiraṇyakaśipu, the impious demon king killed by Vishnu as Narasiṃha, both carry it. Name lists give "gold" or "golden", matching the dictionary. It is used for boys and, less often, girls.
