Hulas meaning
Hulas (हुलास) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, हु, it is a Kark rashi name (Pushya nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Joy, gladness; from Sanskrit ullāsa
Hulas (हुलास) is an old North Indian word for joy. Platts's Hindustani dictionary of 1884 defines hulās as alacrity, gladness, joy and happiness, and traces it to Sanskrit ullāsa, which Monier-Williams glosses both as light or splendour and as joy, happiness and merriment. The same family gives Hindi hulasnā, 'to rejoice', and hulasit, 'delighted, cheerful'. Platts also records Hulsī, a dialect form from this word family, as the name of the mother of the poet Tulsidas. The Hindi form itself is not found in the Sanskrit dictionaries, so its meaning rests on Platts. Hulas has the feel of an older generation's name, simple to say and plainly cheerful in meaning.
