Prithu meaning
Prithu (पृथु) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Broad, wide, large; great, important; abundant
Prithu (पृथु) is the Sanskrit pṛthu, "broad, wide, spacious", and so also great, important and abundant; Monier-Williams compares it with Greek platys, "flat, broad". In the Puranas Prithu, son of King Vena, is the first righteous king, who levelled the land and "milked" the earth in the form of a cow for grain and plenty. The earth, Prithvi, is said to take its name from him. Name lists give "broad" or "great", the same as the dictionary.
