Avanish meaning
Avanish (अवनीश) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Lord of the earth, a king
Avanish (अवनीश) is the Sanskrit avanīśa, from avanī, "the earth", and īśa, "lord". Monier-Williams gives it as a ruler of the earth, that is, a king, citing Varāhamihira's Bṛhatsaṃhitā, and lists avanīśvara as a longer form with the same meaning. Avanī, "the earth", is itself a girl's name, also written Avni. Name lists give Avanish as "lord of the earth" or "king", matching the dictionary. The shorter spelling Avnish is used in North India.
