Lakhan meaning
Lakhan (लखन) is a Hindu boy's name of Hindi origin (from Sanskrit lakṣmaṇa).
A Hindi form of Lakshman, the name of Rama's brother
Also used to mean: another name of Lakshman, fortunate
Lakhan (लखन) is the everyday Hindi form of Lakshman, the name of Rama's younger brother. Platts' dictionary of Hindustani records the dialectal word lakhan as another form of lakshmaṇ, and also as a form of lakshaṇ, "a mark or sign". Both go back to Sanskrit lakṣmaṇa, "having auspicious marks, fortunate". Tulsidas calls Lakshmana by this name throughout the Ramcharitmanas. Name lists give it as "Lakshman" or "fortunate", and both fit its history.
