Avadhesh meaning
Avadhesh (अवधेश) is a Hindu boy's name of Hindi and Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Lord of Avadh (Ayodhya): Avadh + īśa 'lord'
Also used to mean: lord of Ayodhya, Lord Rama
Avadhesh (अवधेश) joins Avadh and īśa. Platts' Hindustani dictionary gives Avadh as the name of the province of Oudh and derives it from Sanskrit Ayodhyā, the capital of the solar kings and the birthplace of Rāma. Īśa is the Sanskrit word for a ruler or lord. Avadhesh therefore means "lord of Avadh", the king of Ayodhyā, and in Hindi devotional poetry the title is given to Rāma and his father Daśaratha. Name lists give Avadhesh as "lord of Ayodhya" or "Lord Rama", which follows from the parts. The name is used mainly in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar; Awadhesh is another spelling.
