Tanmay meaning
Tanmay (तन्मय) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Made up of that; absorbed in or identical with that
Tanmay (तन्मय) is Sanskrit tan-maya, formed from tad, "that", and the suffix -maya, "made of". Monier-Williams gives it as "made up of that" and "absorbed in or identical with that", citing the Muṇḍaka and Śvetāśvatara Upaniṣads and the Mahābhārata. The best-known use is in the Muṇḍaka Upaniṣad, where Om is the bow, the self is the arrow and Brahman is the target, and the seeker is told to become one with it, tanmaya, as an arrow is with its mark. Indian name lists give the name as absorbed or engrossed, which matches the dictionary. It is given mainly to boys, and Tanmayi is a related girl's form.
