Mahipal meaning
Mahipal (महीपाल) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
A king, literally 'protector of the earth'
Mahipal (महीपाल) is Sanskrit mahīpāla, from mahī, "the earth", and pāla, "guardian, protector". Monier-Williams gives it as a word for a king, literally "earth-protector", used in the Mahabharata and classical poetry, and as the name of various princes. Several medieval rulers bore it, among them Mahipala I of the Pala dynasty of Bengal and Mahipala I of the Gurjara-Pratiharas. Name lists give "protector of the earth" or "king", matching the dictionary; a link to Vishnu on some lists is not in the dictionary entry. The name is used in Rajasthan and Haryana.
