Sakthivel meaning
Sakthivel (சக்திவேல்) is a Tamil and Hindu boy's name.
The spear (vel) of power; Murugan's lance, given by Shakti
Also used to mean: murugan's spear
Sakthivel (சக்திவேல்) joins two words for Murugan's power. Sakthi, Sanskrit śakti, is given in the Tamil Lexicon as power, strength and energy, as Parvati, the divine energy of Shiva, and even as a spear. Vēl is the Tamil word for a lance or spear, the weapon always shown in Murugan's hand. Tamil tradition holds that Parvati gave the vel to her son as the embodiment of her own shakti, to defeat the demon Surapadman, and the name echoes that story. It is a Tamil boys' name, with the short forms Sakthi and Vel.
