Amudhan meaning
Amudhan (அமுதன்) is a Tamil boy's name.
God, conceived as immortal; from amutu, the nectar of immortality
Also used to mean: sweet like nectar
Amudhan (அமுதன்) is a Tamil word in its own right. The Tamil Lexicon of the University of Madras enters amutaṉ as God, conceived as the immortal one, citing Māṇikkavācakar's Tiruvācakam. It is formed from amutu, which the Lexicon traces to Sanskrit a-mṛta, "not dead": the ambrosia of the gods, and by extension sweetness, milk, food and the life-giving elixir. In temple usage amutu is also added to the names of food offered to God, as in paruppamutu, the offering of lentils. Name lists give Amudhan as "nectar" or "sweet like nectar", close to these senses. The film director C. S. Amudhan carries the name.
