Arumugam meaning
Arumugam (ஆறுமுகம்) is a Tamil boy's name.
Six faces; Skanda (Murugan), the six-faced god
Also used to mean: Lord Murugan
Arumugam (ஆறுமுகம்) means "six faces", from Tamil āṟu, "six", and mukam, "face", a word borrowed from Sanskrit mukha. It is one of the commonest names for Murugan (Skanda), who is pictured with six faces, and the Tamil Lexicon records āṟumukaṉ, "the six-faced one", as a name of Skanda. Tamil families have given the name for generations, and because of the patronymic custom it often appears as a surname, especially among Tamils abroad. Notable bearers include Arumuga Navalar (1822–1879), the Jaffna scholar who reformed Tamil Shaiva education and printing.
