Shashidhar meaning
Shashidhar (शशिधर) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Moon-bearer (śaśin 'moon' + dhara 'bearing'); recorded as a man's name
Also used to mean: bearer of the moon, lord shiva
Shashidhar (शशिधर) joins Sanskrit śaśin, "the moon", and dhara, "bearing, holding". Monier-Williams records Śaśidhara only as a man's name, known from inscriptions, but the parts give "one who bears the moon", a description of Shiva, who wears the crescent moon in his hair and is also called Chandrashekhar. Name lists give Shashidhar as "bearer of the moon" or "Lord Shiva". The dictionary itself does not list it among Shiva's epithets, so the Shiva reading rests on the meaning of its parts.
