Shaukat meaning
Shaukat (شوکت) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
A thorn; figuratively might, strength, valour; in Persian, majesty, grandeur
Also used to mean: power, dignity
Shaukat (شوکت) is the Arabic shawka, literally "a thorn". Lane's lexicon traces a chain of figurative senses from it: the point or edge of a weapon, sharpness, and then vehemence of might and valour in fighting, or simply strength and power, so that a people may be said to have shawka in war. In Persian the main figurative sense became majesty, power, grandeur and pomp, as Steingass records. Name lists give "power" and "dignity". Maulana Shaukat Ali, a leader of the Khilafat movement with his brother Muhammad Ali, is a famous Indian bearer.
