Barkat meaning
Barkat (برکت) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
A blessing; good bestowed by God that lasts and increases; abundance
Also used to mean: good fortune
Barkat (برکت) is the Urdu pronunciation of Arabic baraka. Lane's lexicon defines it as a blessing, any good that God bestows, and especially good that lasts and keeps increasing; it also means increase and abundance. Steingass gives the Persian barakat as blessing, abundance and prosperity. In everyday Urdu and Hindi, barkat is the blessing that makes things go further, as when a household's food never seems to run short. The word also forms Barkatullah, "blessing of God", the name of Maulana Barkatullah Bhopali (d. 1927), the Indian revolutionary.
