Ghiyas meaning
Ghiyas (غیاث) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin (Urdu and Persian usage).
Aid, succour, deliverance from distress; one who gives aid
Also used to mean: help, helper
Ghiyas (غیاث) is Arabic ghiyāth, from the root gh-w-th, "to help". Lane's lexicon defines it as aid or succour, and rescue from hardship, distress or misfortune, and notes that it can also mean the one who gives that help. It belongs to the same family as Ghaus. In India the name is best known through the longer title Ghiyasuddin, "help of the faith", borne by Ghiyasuddin Tughlaq, who founded the Tughlaq dynasty of Delhi, and by Mirza Ghiyas Beg, father of the empress Nur Jahan. Families today use the short form Ghiyas on its own.
