Qadir meaning
Qadir (قادر) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Possessing power or ability; capable
Also used to mean: powerful
Qadir (قادر) is the Arabic qādir, from qadara, "to have power over, to be able". Lane's lexicon gives it as possessing power or ability, and notes that when applied to God it can also mean the One who decrees and ordains. The Quran uses it of God: "Say: He is the One Able to send punishment upon you" (6:65). Name lists give Qadir as "powerful" or "capable". Because al-Qādir is a divine name, the full form Abdul Qadir, "servant of the Able", is also used, as with the Sufi master Abdul Qadir Jilani.
