Ghazanfar meaning
Ghazanfar (غضنفر) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin (Urdu and Persian usage).
A lion; also big, thickset and rough
Also used to mean: brave
Ghazanfar (غضنفر) is the Arabic word ghaḍanfar, which Urdu and Persian speakers pronounce with a z. Lane's lexicon defines it as big, thick and strongly built, said of a man, and especially of a lion, and records al-ghaḍanfar as one of the Arabic names for the lion. In Urdu poetry the word is used for a lion or a brave warrior. Name lists give "lion", which matches the dictionary. A few sites explain it as a Persian compound meaning "victorious"; we found no source for that. The name is used by Muslim families in India and Pakistan.
