Saif meaning
Saif (سیف) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
A sword
Saif (سیف) is the Arabic sayf, "a sword". Lane's lexicon calls it a word well known and repeats the old dictionaries' boast that its names exceed a thousand; from the same root come sayyāf, a swordsman, and musāyafa, fighting with swords. The word is the first half of compound names such as Saifullah, "sword of God", the title given to the early Muslim general Khalid ibn al-Walid, and Saifuddin, "sword of the faith". In India the actor Saif Ali Khan is the best-known bearer.
