Saim meaning
Saim (صائم) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Fasting; one who abstains from food and drink
Also used to mean: one who fasts, pious
Saim (صائم) is the Arabic ṣāʾim, "fasting", from ṣāma, "to fast", the root of ṣawm, the fast of Ramadan. Lane's lexicon explains that the word first meant simply "abstaining", and in the language of religious law came to mean abstaining from food, drink and marital relations; figuratively it can also mean keeping silent. The Quran lists "men and women who fast", aṣ-ṣāʾimīn wa ṣ-ṣāʾimāt, among the believers promised forgiveness and a great reward (33:35). The name is short and sounds the same in Urdu and English.
