Musa meaning
Musa (موسیٰ) is a Muslim and international boy's name of Arabic origin (from Hebrew).
Moses; Hebrew Mosheh, 'drawing out (of the water)', rescued
Musa (موسیٰ) is the Arabic form of Moses, the prophet who led the Israelites out of Egypt. His story runs through the Quran, which tells it at length, opening one well-known passage by asking the Prophet whether the story of Moses has reached him (20:9). The name goes back to Hebrew Mosheh, which Strong's Concordance explains from mashah, "to draw out": drawn out of the water, that is, rescued, recalling the infant Moses lifted from the Nile. Name lists give Musa as the prophet's name or as "drawn from the water", in line with the Hebrew. In India the name is also written Moosa, and Christian families use the form Moses.
