Emmanuel meaning
Emmanuel is a Christian and international boy's name of Hebrew origin.
God with us
Emmanuel is the Greek New Testament spelling, Emmanouēl, of the Hebrew name Immanuel. Strong's concordance builds the Hebrew from im, "with", and El, "God", with the ending for "us", giving "God with us" or "with us is God". The name first appears in Isaiah 7:14, in the prophecy of a child who would be called Immanuel. Matthew 1:23 quotes that verse of the birth of Jesus, and it is the only place the Greek form occurs in the New Testament. Baby-name lists agree on "God with us". The name is used across the Christian world in several spellings, including Immanuel and Emanuel, and it is the source of the Spanish and Portuguese Manuel.
