Zachary meaning
Zachary is an international and Christian boy's name of Hebrew origin (via Greek).
"Jah has remembered"; from Hebrew zakhar, "to remember", and Yah
Zachary is the English form of Zacharias, the Greek version of Hebrew Zekharyah. The Hebrew joins zakhar, 'to remember', with Yah, a short form of God's name, and Strong's glosses it 'Jah has remembered'. Strong's counts about thirty men of the name in the Old Testament, among them the prophet Zechariah. In the Gospel of Luke, Zacharias is the priest who becomes the father of John the Baptist; the Quran honours the same figure as Zakariya. Baby-name lists give 'God has remembered', which matches. Zachary is said ZAK-uh-ree and is often shortened to Zach.
