Michael meaning
Michael is a Christian and international boy's name of Hebrew origin.
Who is like God?
Michael is Hebrew Miyka'el (מִיכָאֵל), which Strong's Concordance builds from mi, "who", a prefix meaning "like", and El, "God": "who is like God?". In the Bible Michael is an archangel, named in Daniel, Jude and Revelation. Britannica notes that he is honoured in both the Bible and the Qurʾān, that he is usually shown as a warrior with a sword triumphing over a dragon, and that his Western feast, Michaelmas, falls on 29 September. Name lists give the same meaning. In India the name has a long Christian history, and one of its best-known bearers is the Bengali poet Michael Madhusudan Dutt, author of the epic Meghnad Badh Kavya (1861), who converted to Christianity in 1843 and later took the name Michael.
