Malachi meaning
Malachi is an international and Christian boy's name of Hebrew origin.
"my messenger" (NAS); "ministrative" (Strong's); the prophet Malachi
Malachi is the name attached to the last of the twelve minor prophets, and in Christian Bibles his book closes the Old Testament. In Hebrew it is Mal'akhi, from the same root as mal'akh, 'messenger' or 'angel'; the NAS concordance reads it as 'my messenger' and Strong's as 'ministrative'. Brown-Driver-Briggs points out that the book's own words, 'Behold, I will send my messenger', may have supplied the name, so it might be a title rather than the prophet's personal name. Baby-name lists give 'my messenger', which matches. It is said MAL-uh-ky.
