Cyriac meaning
Cyriac is a Christian boy's name of Greek origin (Kerala Syrian Christian usage).
Belonging to the Lord
Cyriac is the English form of Greek Kyriakos, 'belonging to the Lord'. Strong's Concordance records the adjective kuriakos twice in the New Testament, for the Lord's Supper (1 Corinthians 11:20) and the Lord's Day (Revelation 1:10). Several early martyrs bore the name, and it reached Kerala through the Syriac churches, where it became Kuriakose. Cyriac is a spelling used by Syrian Christian families in English. The best-known bearer of the Malayalam form is St Kuriakose Elias Chavara (1805–1871), the Kerala priest and educator canonised in 2014.
