Myron meaning
Myron is a Christian boy's name of Greek origin.
Perfumed oil, ointment (Greek myron)
Also used to mean: fragrant oil, myrrh
Myron is the Greek word myron, which Strong's Concordance (G3464) explains as myrrh and, by extension, perfumed oil or ointment. It is the costly ointment poured on Jesus at Bethany (Mark 14:3) and the spices the women brought to his tomb. In the Eastern and Syriac churches myron is also the holy chrism used to anoint the baptised, which Kerala's Orthodox Christians call mooron. As a personal name it was borne by Myron, the Greek sculptor of the famous Discus Thrower. In India Myron is used mainly in Mangalorean Catholic families.
