Cyril meaning
Cyril is a Christian boy's name of Greek origin.
Lordly; from kurios, 'lord, master'
Also used to mean: masterful
Cyril comes from Greek Kyrillos, a name formed from kurios, 'lord' or 'master'. Strong's Concordance defines kurios as one supreme in authority, and it is the word the New Testament uses for God and for Jesus as Lord. The name was carried by several great saints: Cyril of Jerusalem, Cyril of Alexandria, and Cyril the missionary to the Slavs, after whom the Cyrillic alphabet is named. In India Cyril is used by Catholic and Orthodox families in Kerala, Mangalore and Goa.
