Jack meaning
Jack is an international boy's name of English origin (from Hebrew via French).
Familiar form of John, "Yah is gracious"
Also used to mean: God is gracious
Jack has been used in English for centuries as the familiar form of John. The Online Etymology Dictionary notes that its exact origin is uncertain: it may come from the French name Jacques, which is the French form of James, or it may have been formed in English from John. Through the traditional link with John it is given the meaning "God is gracious", from the Hebrew Yôḥānān. Jack became so common that it was used for any ordinary man, as in jack-of-all-trades. Its Scottish counterpart is Jock. Short and strong, Jack is easy to say for Indian grandparents.
