Alam meaning
Alam (عالم) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
The world, the universe; all created beings
Alam (عالم) is usually the Arabic ʿālam, "the world". Lane's lexicon defines it as the world or universe, meaning all created beings, and also as a particular kind of creatures; the plural appears in the opening of the Quran, "Lord of the worlds" (1:2). In India the word is familiar from titles and compound names such as Shah Alam, "king of the world", and Alamgir, "world-conqueror". A different word, ʿalam, spelt with the same consonants, means a banner or a way-mark, and some families intend that sense.
