Safwan meaning
Safwan (صفوان) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Smooth stones, a smooth rock; also a clear, cloudless day
Also used to mean: pure
Safwan (صفوان) comes from the Arabic root ṣ-f-w, whose basic sense is to be clear and pure, as in ṣafāʾ, "clearness". Lane's lexicon gives ṣafwān itself as a word for smooth stones, one smooth rock being ṣafwāna, and also records yawm ṣafwān, a clear, cloudless and very cold day. The Quran uses the word in a parable of charity spoiled by showing off, likened to a smooth rock under a little soil that heavy rain washes bare (2:264). Safwan ibn Umayya was a Companion of the Prophet who accepted Islam after the conquest of Mecca.
