Ahmed meaning
Ahmed (احمد) is a Muslim and international boy's name of Arabic origin.
More, or most, praiseworthy; comparative form from ḥamd, 'praise'
Ahmed (احمد) is the Arabic aḥmad, a comparative form from the root ḥ-m-d, "to praise", the same root that gives ḥamd, "praise", and the name Muḥammad. It means "more, or most, praiseworthy"; Lane notes that the form can also be read as "more praised". The Quran gives Aḥmad in 61:6 as the name of the messenger whose coming Jesus foretells, and Muslims understand it as a name of the Prophet Muhammad. Name lists today give the same meaning, so popular use and the dictionary agree. Among its many historical bearers is Aḥmad ibn Ḥanbal (780–855), the Baghdad theologian and jurist who founded the Hanbali school of Islamic law. The name is spelt both Ahmad and Ahmed.
