Nuh meaning
Nuh (نوح) is a Muslim boy's name of Hebrew origin (Arabic form).
Rest (Hebrew Noach); the Prophet Noah
Also used to mean: comfort
Nuh (نوح) is the Arabic and Quranic form of Noah, one of the great prophets of Islam. The name is Hebrew in origin: Strong's concordance gives Noach as "rest", from the verb meaning to rest. The Quran tells his story in many places and names a whole surah after him, which opens "We sent Nuh to his people: warn your people before a painful punishment comes to them" (71:1). Name lists give Nuh as "rest" or "comfort". Indian Muslim families often spell it Nooh. Noah is the English form of the same name.
