Naqeeb meaning
Naqeeb (نقیب) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
The chief or overseer of a people; one who answers for them
Also used to mean: leader
Naqeeb (نقیب) is the Arabic naqīb, from naqaba, "to bore through" and so "to investigate". Lane's lexicon explains naqīb al-qawm as the overseer or superintendent of a people, the one who knows their affairs, vouches for them and is answerable for them; in short, their head or chief. The Quran uses the word when God appoints twelve leaders, naqīban, among the Children of Israel (5:12). Name lists give Naqeeb as "leader" or "chief". In Urdu, Platts adds the sense of a herald who proclaims his master's titles and announces visitors.
