Badar meaning
Badar (بدر) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
The full moon; figuratively, the chief of a people
Badar (بدر), also written Badr, is the Arabic word for the full moon. Lane's lexicon defines it as the moon on its fourteenth night and records a figurative use for the lord or chief of a people, who is likened to the full moon. Badr is also the name of the wells near Medina where the first major battle of Islam was fought in 624, an event the Quran mentions in 3:123. Name lists give the meaning simply as "full moon", which matches the dictionary. The same word forms the longer name Badruddin, "full moon of the faith".
