Mujtaba meaning
Mujtaba (مجتبیٰ) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Chosen, selected; singled out by God for favour
Mujtaba (مجتبیٰ) is the Arabic mujtabā, the passive participle of ijtabā, "to choose". Lane's lexicon explains ijtibāʾ as gathering by way of choice or selection, and as God's singling out of particular people for abundant favour, as with the prophets. So the name means "chosen". It is best known as a title of Hasan ibn ʿAli, the Prophet's grandson, called al-Mujtaba. Name lists give the meaning as "chosen" or "selected", matching the dictionary.
