Ayub meaning
Ayub (ایوب) is a Muslim boy's name of Hebrew origin (via Arabic).
The prophet Job
Also used to mean: repentant
Ayub (ایوب) is the Indian spelling of Ayyūb, the Arabic form of Job, the prophet whose patience under suffering is remembered by Jews, Christians and Muslims. Steingass's dictionary gives aiyūb simply as the name of the prophet Job. The Quran recalls how Ayyūb called on his Lord when affliction touched him, and how God answered him (21:83). Some name lists give "repentant"; the Quran does call him awwāb, "one who often turns to God" (38:44), but the name itself is Hebrew. Ayub Khan, President of Pakistan, is a well-known bearer.
