Ghaffar meaning
Ghaffar (غفار) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin (Urdu usage).
Very forgiving; al-Ghaffar, God who forgives much
Also used to mean: most forgiving
Ghaffar (غفار) is Arabic ghaffār, an intensive form of the root gh-f-r. Lane's lexicon explains the verb ghafara as first meaning to cover or conceal something, and, of God, to cover a person's sins and forgive them. Ghaffār, like ghafūr, means one who forgives much, and al-Ghaffār is one of the names of God; in the Quran God says, "I am most forgiving to whoever repents" (20:82). In India the name is usually short for Abdul Ghaffar, "servant of the Most Forgiving", the name of the freedom fighter Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan.
