Ehsan meaning
Ehsan (احسان) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin (Urdu usage).
Doing good; beneficence, kindness, favour
Also used to mean: excellence, benevolence
Ehsan (احسان) is the Urdu spelling of Arabic iḥsān, from the root ḥ-s-n, "to be good or beautiful". Lane's lexicon explains iḥsān as doing good, the opposite of doing harm, and notes that it goes beyond justice: it means giving more than one owes and taking less than is owed to one. Steingass gives the Persian and Urdu sense as beneficence, kindness and favour, which is why Urdu speakers call a kindness someone has done them an ehsān. Name lists give "kindness" or "excellence". The Urdu poet Ehsan Danish (1914–1982), born in Kandhla in Uttar Pradesh, is a well-known bearer.
