Ikram meaning
Ikram (اکرام) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin (Urdu usage).
Honouring someone; showing respect, generosity or hospitality
Ikram (اکرام) is Arabic ikrām, from akrama, "to honour", part of the root k-r-m that also gives Karim and Akram. Lane's lexicon explains akrama as showing someone honour and treating him generously, as a host treats a guest. The Quran twice calls God dhū al-jalāli wa-l-ikrām, "Possessor of majesty and honour" (55:27), a phrase Muslims repeat in prayer. Name lists give "honour", "respect" or "generosity", which matches the dictionary. In India Ikram is used for boys, alone and in names like Ikramul Haq.
