Fazil meaning
Fazil (فاضل) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Excelling, excellent, virtuous; learned, accomplished
Fazil (فاضل) is the Urdu pronunciation of Arabic fāḍil, the active participle of faḍala, "to exceed, to excel". Lane's lexicon defines it as exceeding or surplus, and, of a person, as excelling or possessing faḍl, excellence; in later usage it came to mean erudite, excellent in learning. Steingass gives the Persian and Urdu senses as excellent, virtuous, accomplished and learned, and fāẓil al-dahr as "the best of his age". Name lists give "excellent", "virtuous" or "learned", matching the dictionaries. The Arabic spelling Fadil is used in the Middle East.
