Uzair meaning
Uzair (عزیر) is a Muslim boy's name of Hebrew origin (via Arabic).
ʿUzayr of the Quran, usually identified with Ezra; Hebrew 'help'
Also used to mean: helper, strength, esteemed
Uzair (عزیر) is the Arabic ʿUzayr, a figure named once in the Quran (9:30) and generally identified with the biblical scribe Ezra. Strong's concordance gives the Hebrew ʿEzra as a form of ʿezrah, "aid, help", which matches the "helper" on many name lists. In Arabic the name also echoes the root ʿ-z-r, whose verb ʿazzara Lane's lexicon explains as to aid, assist and strengthen, as well as to restrain; the Quran uses it for those who "honour and support" the Prophet (7:157). Some Muslim scholars prefer to say the name's meaning is not known.
