Sohail meaning
Sohail (سہیل) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
The bright southern star Canopus
Also used to mean: easy, gentle
Sohail (سہیل) is the Arabic suhayl, the name of the bright southern star Canopus. Lane's lexicon describes it as a well-known star, seen in the Hijaz and in Iraq but not in Khurasan, and records the date of its dawn rising in central Arabia at the start of August. In form suhayl is a diminutive of sahl, "easy, smooth", and some name lists give "easy" or "gentle" on that basis, but the dictionary treats the word as the star's name. The actor and filmmaker Sohail Khan is a well-known Indian bearer.
