Muhammad meaning
Muhammad (محمد) is a Muslim and international boy's name of Arabic origin.
Praised much or repeatedly; having many praiseworthy qualities
Muhammad (محمد) is the Arabic muḥammad, the passive participle of ḥammada, from the root ḥ-m-d, "praise". It means one who is praised much or repeatedly, and Lane adds "having many praiseworthy qualities". It is the name of the Prophet of Islam, born in Mecca around 570, who died in Medina in 632, and it appears in four verses of the Quran, among them 48:29. The same root gives the names Aḥmad, Maḥmūd and Ḥamīd. Name lists today give Muhammad as "praised" or "praiseworthy", in line with the dictionary. In South Asia it is often the first part of a longer name, and it has many spellings, including Mohammed, Mohammad and Muhammed, with Mehmet as the Turkish form.
