Anjum meaning
Anjum (انجم) is a Muslim unisex name of Arabic origin (via Persian and Urdu), used for both girls and boys.
Stars (plural of najm)
Anjum (انجم) is Arabic anjum, a plural of najm, "a star", from the root n-j-m. Lane's lexicon defines najm as a star, and also as a constellation, especially the Pleiades. Urdu took the word as a poetic plural for the stars, and it appears often in Urdu poetry. Name lists give Anjum as "stars", in line with the dictionary. In India the name is given to both girls and boys, and it is also used by some Punjabi families outside the Muslim community; former India women's cricket captain Anjum Chopra is a well-known bearer.
