Wasif meaning
Wasif (واصف) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
One who describes or praises
Also used to mean: describer, one who praises
Wasif (واصف) is the Arabic wāṣif, the active participle of waṣafa, "to describe", from the root w-ṣ-f that also gives ṣifa, "quality", and the name Tauseef. Steingass defines wāṣif as one who praises or describes, with the Persian plural wāṣifān, "those who describe". Name lists give "describer" or "one who praises". It should not be confused with waṣīf, which Steingass gives as a young servant, a sense some name lists attach to Wasif by mistake.
