Najam meaning
Najam (نجم) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
A star; also the Pleiades
Najam (نجم) is the Urdu pronunciation of Arabic najm, "a star". Lane's lexicon gives najm as a star or a constellation, and notes that al-najm on its own often means the Pleiades. The word also names the 53rd surah of the Quran, which opens "By the star when it descends" (53:1). Name lists give Najam as "star", matching the dictionary. The same word forms the compound Najmuddin, "star of the faith", and the feminine name Najma.
