Saqib meaning
Saqib (ثاقب) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Shining brightly, as if piercing the darkness; said of a star
Also used to mean: sharp, shining star
Saqib (ثاقب) is the Arabic thāqib, from thaqaba, "to pierce"; Urdu pronounces its first letter as s. Lane's lexicon gives it for a star, a lamp or a flame that shines so brightly it seems to pierce through the darkness and drive it away. The Quran uses it of the night star, an-najm ath-thāqib, "the star of piercing brightness" (86:3). Name lists today give "piercing", "sharp" or "shining star", all close to the dictionary sense. The actor Saqib Saleem is a well-known Indian bearer.
