Akhtar meaning
Akhtar (اختر) is a Muslim boy's name of Persian origin.
A star; also a horoscope or omen
Akhtar (اختر) is the Persian word for a star. Steingass's dictionary gives akhtar as a star and, by extension, a horoscope or omen, since the stars were read for fortune; it can also mean a banner. The word appears in compounds such as akhtar-sipāh, a ruler "whose army is as many as the stars". In India and Pakistan Akhtar is both a given name and a family name, used mostly for boys and sometimes for girls, as in the name of the singer Begum Akhtar. The Urdu poet Akhtar-ul-Iman is a well-known bearer.
