Bashar (بشر) is an Arabic word whose dictionary sense is "human being". Lane's lexicon explains that the root first named the outer skin, and that bashar came to mean mankind and a human being, used alike for a man, a woman or many people; Steingass gives man, mankind and the human race. The Quran uses it in this sense in 18:110, where the Prophet says he is only a human being like his listeners. Name lists usually give "bringer of good news", a meaning that belongs to the related words Bashir and Basharat from the same root; we could not find it for bashar itself.
