Bashir meaning
Bashir (بشیر) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
One who announces news, mostly good news; a bringer of glad tidings
Also used to mean: bringer of good news
Bashir (بشیر) is Arabic bashīr, from the root b-sh-r. Lane's lexicon defines it as one who announces news to people, more often good news than bad: a bringer of glad tidings. The Quran pairs bashīr with nadhīr, "warner", to describe the Prophet Muhammad, as in 2:119. Name lists give "bringer of good news", which matches the dictionary. In India the name, often spelled Basheer in the south, is borne by the Urdu poet Bashir Badr and was borne by the Malayalam writer Vaikom Muhammad Basheer.
